Hi, my name is Caleb Carter, I am the Agriculture and Horticulture Extension Educator for the University of Wyoming based in Goshen County, and serving Southeast Wyoming including Platte, Laramie, Albany and Carbon counties. My emphasis is on crop production and irrigation efficiency.
Growing up in Montana, in and around farming and ranching, and participating in FFA, helped give me an appreciation for the importance of agriculture, as well as the challenges our Ag producers face. Since then I have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Montana State University and a Master’s Degree in Agronomy from the University of Wyoming.
I enjoy the variety that Extension work provides, whether I am diagnosing a tree problem in someones yard, or soil issues in an alfalfa field. I am proud to continue in the tradition of the University of Wyoming Extension in providing lifelong learning opportunities as I bring the resources of the University of Wyoming home to you!
I hope you find this website to be a great resource for you as you seek answers to your crop production and horticulture questions! In addition to the questions I get here in the office. Also, sign up for my newsletter, the Wyoming High Plains Crop Update, to stay up to date on upcoming programs, as well as crop research, variety trials, federal regulatory information, market items, etc. To register click here.
For the gardeners, I have begun a Gardening in Goshen email list. Click here to be added to the list to receive periodic updates on topics such as soil health, local pest and disease issues, tips and tricks as well as upcoming horticulture programs.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
